A reliable internet connection is critical if you’re to comfortably, and reliably, use the internet at home or in the office. 5G mobile networks in the UK say they’ll guarantee you an uninterrupted, high quality and fast internet connections. But which mobile network will offer the best 5G service?
- What is 5G?
- When does it arrive?
- Best 5G broadband providers
- Final words
What is 5G?
Simply put, 5G is the next generation of mobile network technology expected to be 100 times faster than 4G. The mega network which is to replace the outgoing 4G promises to deliver “download speeds faster than broadband” to mobile users.
On top of being far faster, this new technology can handle vastly more data connect and more concurrent devices without network problems. These features will come in handy in developing self-driving cars and smart cities.
When Does 5G Arrive?
UK networks are currently testing the faster connection technology in cities across the country. In November 2018 EE said it would install 5G connections in 16 cities across the UK in 2019.
The Daily Telegraph reported “ London will be the first place to get the connection upgrade, followed by Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham, and Manchester – the areas where EE’s customers “use the most data.”
While EE is the first to launch 5G, Vodafone, Three and O2 will also be launching 5G updates in 2019.
Which Mobile Network Will Offer the Best 5G Broadband
Mobile networks are yet to reveal the prices users will pay to connect to the next generation of mobile technology.
However, I can speculate which mobile company will get more users connected to 5G, based on how they performed with 4G.
This mobile company was the first to launch 4G back in 2012. Again in 2018, they beat their competitors to start 5G trials in the UK. With 4G EE has managed to offer the fastest 4G coverage to 99% of the UK population.
You can expect EE to remain at the top of their game and offer you unrivaled 5G reach across the UK. To do this EE is planning to give customers a OnePlus 5G smartphone and a 5G home router.
Speaking on their 5G plans Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer division, said: “EE and OnePlus have a shared vision to give our customers the best-connected experience possible. We’re working together on cutting edge technology to deliver that, and we’re leading the world on the journey to 5G. Adding 5G to the UK’s number one 4G network will increase reliability, increase speeds, and keep our customers connected where they need it most.”
With 3G and 4G Three covers 97% of the UK population which makes the mobile network one of the UK’s widest ranging networks. The mobile network has already announced it will be investing over £2 billion into 5G. They also expect to have 5G phones and home internet devices by the second half of 2019.
To entice customers to use their 5G network expect some amazing offers from them like they offer currently offer to 4G users. I particularly like the Go Binge scheme, which allows you to stream Netflix over 4G and 3G without using any of your data allowance.
O2 and Vodafone are also toning up so they’re read for the 5G race. Both companies have done pretty well with 4G covering over 80% of the population. Also, their connections offer reliable internet speeds.
Once 5G is commercially launched, network coverage, data speeds and value will be some of the things to consider before you choose your 5G broadband provider.
Whichever mobile networks you choose, one thing’s for sure:
5G will revolutioniz, not only your mobile phone use, but the world that surrounds you.
